An Inexperienced, Starry-Eyed, and Eloquently Orating Lawyer From Illinois

Oh, did you think I was talking about Obama?

It is a trying time facing our country. For all the criticisms he’s endured, we were served remarkably well by a man with a similar background – and a similar level of “inexperience.” Yes, it’s clearly a tragedy to have a great and inspirational speaker as president. Words have absolutely no power in politics. The Gettysburg Address and the Lincoln-Douglas debates proved that oratory skill has tremendous worth and value. After eight years of idiocy with the “Decider Guy,” I can see how people might have forgotten that.

Congratulations, Mr. Obama. You have some big shoes (literally) to fill. I hope the spirit of the 16th POTUS is with you. Certainly we need it.

  1. Fitting that I went and sat at the Lincoln memorial at about 1:30am this morning. Had a nice long sit and a nice meditation on what yesterday means and how hard the next 8 years are going to be.
